If I'm going to get a tax increase for busting my butt, I might as well just stay home, do nothing and get a FREE handout.
Who's going to be motivated to work hard then???
After my mom got laid off from her corporate sales position 8 years ago she decided to work for herself, starting her own lead generation company. She has an unusual talent for sales in the aspect that she just plain "gets along" with people. Once nicknamed "the voice" for her ability to make friends with everyone she meets over the phone.
Her business exploded, she was helping so many business make new sales and get into doors that were previously shut in their faces. She soon found herself in need of bringing on additional help. Just out of the shear necessity to satisfy her overwhelming requests from her clients.
Now she has 5 employees, all women who have been in difficult situations where otherwise may have not been given a job. Needs ranging from a young mother with no transportation, students with erratic schedules, to senior retirees who need to supplement their income. As she grows this company, she now faces a new challenge of possibly falling into a new tax bracket and the possibility of being fined for not being in a position to provide health insurance. However none of these issues yet nearly as detrimental as the taxing of these small businesses.
This equates to losing clients from her small business clientele, which is the majority of her client base. I fear these companies will not survive the new taxes that Obama wants to enforce. Like most companies when squeezed, will trim all other costs from basic functioning expense to compensate. Although it doesn't seem effective to cut out your primary source if leads, I'm sure payroll and basic operating cost will have to take precedence.
I fear for my mother and all who she employs. I don't want them to be trampled by the tax domino effect. If she loses her small business clientele, she loses her company and all her employees from "Middleclass America" will fall. Right now she's in the growth stages and could be creating even more jobs for people who otherwise may have not of had an opportunity. A lot of them like my mother, who never had a college education and was a single mom with two young students to support when she was laid off.
She fought and struggled from nothing to get here and I don't think she deserves to suffer the side effects of the Obama presidency. Please help us John McCain! You and Sarah Palin are our shining hope of success for this nation.
